Young Pups Series

Young Pups Series: Highlighting the 2017-18 Freshmen that will make a significant impact throughout the season. These five college basketball newcomers all arrive with high expectations to major programs. We will give our breakdown on what to expect from these young pups.

Hamidou Diallo Guard/Forward 6’5 Queens, NY

After a year of anticipation, the time has come for the super talented wing Hamidou Diallo, to show Big Blue Nation what he brings to the eighth edition of John Calipari’s empire. Diallo committed to UK in January but due to being a late enrollee, the program opted to treat 2017 as a redshirt year as he watched De’aaron Fox, Malik Monk, and Bam Adebayo lead the cats to a season that ended a jump shot away from the Final Four. This season presents a huge opportunity for Diallo as the program recently had eight departures due graduation and the nba draft. Coach Cal will look for Hamidou to bring his speedy open-floor offensive gifts along with his rangy length and excellent passing lane defensive tools to Lexington this season. Hamidou finished his prep career at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut where he averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds per contest. He lead the Mustangs to a 37-3 record. Diallo has a signature two-handed double pumped jam that he executes often during dribble drives. If the cats can force teams to speed up tempo this season, Hamidou should become another fantastic Kentucky freshman excelling at his preferred style of play. With his great leaping ability & body type, our pro comparison for Diallo is Demar Derozan. amit2 infugintesting
